When is a Hasler postage meter not a Hasler postage meter?
Before I answer that question, I’ll assume you have an idea of the type of mail machine you need and want. You probably have taken the second step and visited some of the manufacturer’s sites and are well prepared for the sales persons’ visits.
So let’s move on to the third insider secret and the one that answers the question at the beginning of the page.
A Neopost and Hasler postage meter and mailing machine are EXACTLY THE SAME (Insider Secret #3) except for the brand name and model on the machine! Check it out. Find a Hasler link and check out the IM350 model for example. Now find a Neopost link and look at the IS350. Identical.
A while back Neopost bought Hasler and the manufacture of Hasler postage meters and mail machines stopped.
But – and this is important – Neopost didn’t make all the Hasler dealers into Neopost dealers. They did consolidate their sales outlets in some markets, but in may you still can find a Hasler dealer and a Neopost dealer.
So why is that so important. Well if you happen to be in a market where there are both a Neopost and Hasler dealer, they will generally aggressively compete for your business. Typically, there’s really only one area they compete on – and that’s price. Both dealers will probably tell you how awesome their service and support is, give you some excellent references, and give you some negative ones about the competition. But in the end they’re both probably about equal or the manufacturer wouldn’t let them be their representative.
So, if you are considering purchasing a Hasler postage machine, get out a phone directory and call the local Neopost dealer. Likewise, if you are considering purchasing Neopost postage machine, call the local Hasler dealer.
I knew one market where there were both dealer types and if the Neopost dealer knew the Hasler dealer was competing for the business, they would take 20% off the price before walking in the customer’s door.
So take advantage of this situation and put that 20% savings in your company’s pocket!
